World Affairs Council Dallas/Fort Worth presents an evening with Ambassador Thomas Pickering

February 28 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says Iran is open to talks about a new nuclear arms accord with the U.S. if President Trump changes his approach.

Ambassador Thomas Pickering and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper recently collaborated on an article for The National Interest writing, “The United States can succeed in reaching its objectives with Tehran only through the deliberate cultivation of broad partnerships based on leveraged and patient diplomacy. And many partners are better than none.” Ambassador Thomas Pickering, one of the country’s most esteemed diplomats, who served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and was the country’s chief diplomat in Russia, India, El Salvador, Israel, Nigeria and Jordan also believes consistent diplomatic engagement is the way to approach Iran.

With a career spanning four decades, Pickering has a unique vantage point on America’s international engagement. He is now working with The Iran Project, which aims to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
