
Frank G. Wisner was a Co-Founder of The Iran Project. He held the title of Career Ambassador, the highest rank in the U.S. Foreign Service. During a diplomatic career spanning 40 years under the leadership of eight U.S. presidents, he served as U.S. Ambassador to India (1994-1997), the Philippines (1991-1992), Egypt (1986-91), and Zambia (1979-82). He also held various positions in the U.S. government, including Undersecretary of Defense for Policy (1993-94), Undersecretary of State for International Security Affairs (1992-93), Senior Deputy Assistant Secretary for African Affairs (1982-86), and Deputy Executive Secretary of the Department of State (1977). In 2005, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice appointed him as the nation’s special representative to the Kosovo Status Talks, where he played a crucial role in negotiating Kosovo’s independence. He graduated from Princeton University in 1961.
